Battle of the Undefeated

The Titans get a big win in a close game against Hastings.

The Titans football team is having an amazing season so far.  After the first four games of the season, they
were still undefeated. But in their fifth week of the season, they had to face the
Hastings Saxons, the only other undefeated team in the I-8 conference.

Last Friday, September 24, the  team traveled the hour and a half away to Hastings High School to compete in maybe their biggest game in the regular season. The Titans struck first as Senior Cole Simpson (7)
ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter.  Senior Colin Morrow (5) also scored a touchdown in the second quarter.

By halftime,  the Titans were up on the Saxons 19-8, but that
didn’t stop Hastings from giving up. As the game continued, the score gradually got
closer.  Late in the fourth quarter, the game was so close that
the Titans only had a 4-point lead on the Saxons. But senior quarterback Teddy Ahlers
(6) ran in an amazing touchdown to secure Lumen Christi’s victory over Hastings with a
final score of 33-22.

Now with the record of 5-0, the Titans will keep working to keep their undefeated
streak alive, and continue to work for their main goal of the season, to be Division 7
MHSAA State Championships. Go Titans!
