MLK Art Competition

Katelyn Richards wins award at annual MLK art competition.

MLK+Art+Competition

At the end of the second quarter, local high school artists entered into an art competition. This was something all of Jackson was included in.

The theme was Martin Luther King Jr. It could be anything you wanted as long as it symbolized in some sort of way one of the quotes from MLK. Senior Katelyn Richards, along with junior Garrett Slider, had winning submissions.

Katelyn’s art piece was a chalk drawing of a lantern and I’d have to admit hers was much better than my own that I submitted. The quote she chose to represent is “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” She did a very good job representing this in her outstanding artwork.
