On Thursday, February 12, 2026, Lumen Christi upperclassmen came together for a fun-filled evening of entertainment, awards, and merriment. The event was the annual Oscars award show and included a variety of crowd-favorite trophies as well as live performances from students.
To start the night off, a newly conceived barbershop quartet — including Peter Soltis, Christian Warriner, AJ Hart, and Hoyt Swager — performed a Valentine’s Day special by Leo Friedman called “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.” The performance was met with a very positive reception from the audience, and the quartet plans to stay together and grow their skills as a group.
Following the opening act, Mr. Ryan Miller and Mrs. Kate Egan presented the first twelve awards of the night. The awards covered a range of topics, such as best hair, best shoes, and best smile. The nominees were selected and voted on by the juniors and seniors of the LC student body. Each winner was given a small trophy and an opportunity to give a short speech.
After the first batch of awards was distributed, senior Luke Knoll hosted an energetic junior-vs.-senior game of Family Feud. The senior class swept, but some juniors called into question the legitimacy of the game, claiming that seniors conspired in the survey to curate specific outcomes that allowed them to win with such ease. The seniors, however, denied all wrongdoing.
The night continued with ten more awards, followed by another round of Family Feud (with more dominance from the senior team). Senior Abby Frederick then performed a dance to Jason Derulo’s hit song “Savage Love,” which had the entire audience dancing along with her.
A final batch of awards was followed by Selia Lopez’s passionate performance of “Don’t You Dare (Make Me Fall in Love With You)” by Kaden MacKay, the last musical act of the night and a strong finish. It was a beautiful rendition and a great display of talent.
Mr. Miller and Mrs. Egan closed the night by awarding one final honor for the best speech of the evening, decided on by the event coordinators. Senior Amarion Clay won in a landslide for the backflip in his speech after receiving the best smile award.
The 2026 Lumen Christi Oscars were a huge success overall, and everyone — from the performers to the award recipients to the hosts — made it a special event. It will go down in history as one of the most memorable and electric LC Oscars in recent memory.
