For high school seniors trying to navigate the next chapter of life, it can be difficult to find all the answers they are searching for. Fortunately, our very own Lumen Christi alumni are more than willing to help. On Tuesday, January 6th, several recent LC graduates returned during the school day for an event titled Faith on Purpose. The purpose of the event was to bring curious students together with experienced guidance for an impactful learning opportunity.
While the primary focus of the panel was how to stay spiritually engaged after high school, a wide range of topics were covered from sports to academics and finances. Subsequent breakout sessions gave students an opportunity to ask more specific questions. Each breakout group had two alumni leaders who had more in depth conversations with students, satisfying their most pressing inquiries. In one breakout room, alumni met with seniors who considered going out of state, discussing homesickness, long drives, and new cultural experiences.
Senior Nolan Huff had great things to say about the event. “I thought it was effective because they answered all of the questions that we needed to know.” He appreciated the more specific advice he received, stating that he “learned about dorm life and what it’s like playing sports at college.” Most of the seniors shared Huff’s sentiment, and the session was largely appreciated by the student body.
This was the second Faith on Purpose event since its debut last year, and there are plans to continue it as a consistent annual tradition. In its limited time here, Faith on Purpose has proven an effective and fruitful tradition. The Lumen Christi community looks forward to the many more great things it will bring in the future.
