Kairos is an opportunity to take time to reflect, pray, and live out our faith in everyday actions. Through trusting God during challenges and seeking guidance in moments of doubt, Kairos helps kids learn how to use patience and kindness the way God has wanted us to. Libby Reese was a leader on Kairos and was asked what was the attitude for the kids before and after Kairos. Libby said, “At first they were nervous, and at the end they became a lot more comfortable.” Junior Weston Vanderstelt recently returned from Kairos and said his favorite part of the retreat was the adoration sessions. Weston also said, “I had doubts about going, and after I had a lot of fun and was very happy I went.” After spending time in prayer and reflection, many students said they felt more confident in their faith. This helped them feel more prepared to make positive choices when faced with challenges. This spiritual growth gave Kairos a sense of peace and confidence that shaped how they treated others.
As Kairos grew in their faith, they also became closer to their classmates. Their stronger connection with God inspired them to be more understanding, respectful, and supportive toward others. Kairos listened more, showed compassion, and worked to include everyone, which helped build trust and friendship within the class. As students returned to school, the lessons learned on Kairos continued to influence how they treated classmates, showing that the retreat’s impact extends beyond the few days it lasts.
