The Lumen Christi mascot was once a very popular and exciting part of school spirit, especially at sporting events and extracurricular activities. Bringing it back would require raising around $10,000 to purchase a brand-new mascot costume and accessories. The Titan helped energize the crowd, motivate athletes, and create a fun atmosphere that brought students together. It was more than just a costume — it was a symbol of pride and unity for the school. A new mascot would restore that powerful symbol for current and future students. Marty Powers said, “The mascot was a great prop that used to get kids into the basketball games,” and bringing it back could once again increase attendance and school spirit.
Reintroducing the mascot would be a strong step toward rebuilding that excitement and involvement. A new Titan could encourage more students to attend sporting events and help younger kids feel more connected to the school community. Schools across the country have shown that mascots increase fan engagement and create stronger home-court advantages by getting crowds more involved in games. Support for this idea is already growing. Zack Tropea stated, “I will give my tuition to help buy a new mascot,” showing serious student commitment to the cause.
The Lumen Christi staff is fully supportive of bringing back the Titan if the fundraising goal is reached and a student is willing to attend sporting events in costume. With clear organization and community support, this goal is realistic and achievable. Bringing back the mascot would not just bring back a costume — it would bring back a tradition that once united the entire school.
