Jensen Cross Country Meet

The Boys and Girls cross country teams have a strong result from the all-area meet.

On Saturday, September 22 twenty six teams from around Jackson county attended the J. Chris Jensen Memorial Run at Ella Sharp Park. Lumen Christi’s cross country team had runners in both the junior varsity run and in the varsity run for both girls and boys. For the boys cross country team, everyone ran in the varsity race. The boys are coached by Mr.Miller. Coming in second was Gene Hendrickson with a time of 16:46.58. Shortly behind him was Matt Hoop, coming in 19th place with a time of 17:58.37. The boys team finished in 4th place with 163 points. For the girls cross country team, Allison Rand, grade 12, Renae Kutcha, grade 10, Allison Hoop, grade 12, Faith Smith, grade 9, Genevieve Soltis, grade 12, Hailey Wildenhaus, grade 12, and Alex Soltis, grade 9 ran in the varsity race,  with Lily Beebe, grade 9, and Jessica Furman, grade 9, running in the JV race. The girls are coached by Mr.Woolsey. For the JV,  runners Lily Beebe came in 12th place with a time of 24:03.55, and Jessica Furman came in 19th place with a time of 25:15.35. The junior varsity team finished in 2nd place with 38 points. For the varsity race, Allison Rand came in 3rd with a time of 19:53.81. Renae Kutcha followed her with a time of 20:05.44 coming in 4th place. Next, Allison Hoop came in 11th with a time of 20:59.73. Faith Smith came in 15th place with a time of 21:27.58. The team finished in second place with 54 points. The girls will compete in the MHSAA state finals on November 3rd. Good luck to both teams and congrats on your achievements!
