After an 11-inning regional championship loss last season, Lumen Christi softball isn’t just returning- they’re coming back with something to prove. The team has spent the offseason sharpening their skills and building chemistry. Their focus is clear: come back stronger, more disciplined, and ready to compete at the highest level from the very first pitch. Leaders on the team have set high expectations, including standout pitcher senior Bella Wrozek, who shared her personal goals for the season: to win a state championship and reach 750 career strikeouts. She currently stands at 570. That mindset reflects the team’s overall drive—not just to succeed, but to dominate.
The motivation runs even deeper when reflecting on last season’s painful ending. Senior Bree Okoniewski spoke about the team’s mindset and the lingering memory that continues to push them forward: “This team has a lot to prove and the moment that sticks with me most is losing in the Regional Championship (against Grass Lake) in the 11th inning by a walk off hit.” That loss has become a defining moment for the team. This year, the girls are focused on redemption, approaching every game with the belief that to be the best, you must beat the best. With that mentality, they are not only ready for the season—they are ready to make a statement.
