JAWS

Lumen Wrestling Starts Off Strong
JAWS

As Lumen Christi wrestling gets into full swing, one of the most exciting meets is already taking place. Wrestling JAWS is a tournament that highlights many different teams from Jackson and the surrounding area.  This was held at Parkside Middle School. Our own Sam Vandam and Nolan Curtis went 5-0. I wanted to see how they both thought about the team and their performance.

Nolan Curtis had 4 pins during his 5 wins. His comments were,” I had to fight through the pain every bout.’’ I asked him about how he thought he had done and he said he could have been more aggressive but he is happy with how he wrestled. The last thing I asked him is how he felt about the whole team’s performance. He said that he was proud of the rest of the team and they can take all of this and build off of it.

Sam Vandam also had 4 pins during his wins. He was a lot tougher on himself when I asked about his wrestling. He said he believed he could do a lot better and he needs to improve even more. He said he should take more shots during his bouts. During this conversation he mentioned practices should be met with much more intensity and the whole team needs to just work harder. At the end, he mentioned that the team has a ton of potential and he is excited to see how the rest of the team does throughout the season. I think that everyone should be as well. With these leaders along with some of the juniors, Lumen Christi wrestling is looking good this season.
