The Lumen Christi tennis team has been waiting for their turn for multiple seasons, and they’ve finally broken through with their first quad win in three years. The Titans faced off against Berrien Springs, Plymouth Christian Academy, and Lake Orion. Despite the challenge, the squad delivered a commanding performance across the board.
For the past couple of years, the team was largely made up of underclassmen. The lack of varsity experience showed, and while they displayed promise, they often came up short in tight matches. Now, with a core group of older players leading the way, the atmosphere has shifted.
With a strong mix of seasoned veterans and rising talent, the Titans are setting their sights on conference, regional, and state championships later this fall. The players are hopeful that this quad win is just the first of many milestones in what could be a breakout season.
“We’re hungry for more,” said Zack Tropea, junior No. 1 singles. “This is just the beginning. We’re excited to see what else this team can accomplish.”
The victory not only serves as a testament to the team’s resilience and growth, but also marks the beginning of what many believe could be a successful run for Lumen Christi tennis in the coming seasons.
Shayan Challapalli, sophomore No. 4 singles, added: “We’ve been putting in the work all summer, day in and day out. From early morning practices to intense drills, we’ve really dedicated ourselves to getting better. This win is the result of that commitment, and it feels amazing to see everything come together.”
The team showed athletic growth and built a deep bond this offseason, proving that the Titans are piecing the puzzle together and finally bringing everything into place.
Their next big test will come this Saturday, September 20, when they travel to Allegan for a competitive eight-team tournament. The Titans hope to build on their momentum and prove that their early-season success can carry over against some of the toughest competition in the region.
As the Titans hoisted the quad trophy, their triumph sent a clear message: Lumen Christi has arrived — and they’re just getting started.
