Last week, a suspicious tape outline of a human figure appeared in Room 113 of the middle school hallway. This mock crime scene was part of a lab for Mr. Best’s forensics class, sparking curiosity among students throughout the school.
Mia Sanchez, a senior in the class, described the lab as “very fun… it was a nice way to get students learning in a fun and interactive way.” Over the course of three days, students practiced the essential tasks of first responders at a crime scene, including sketching the scene, taking photographs, and recording detailed observations. Senior Cecelia Berry shared that the lab taught her “…it (crime scene investigation) was definitely harder than it seems, and also how to properly document evidence so that it can be used in a court case.”
The story was that Mr. Best got murdered and the students had to figure out with the clues in the room who did this crime. After being in the crime scene, students had to create their own scenario and make a poster of the crime scene. Many people were suspected. Most of them wrongly! The ultimate culprit was Mr. Iding – so it would seem.
