Alison Furnas Is a freshman on our Junior Varsity volleyball team. This season she has only been able to play in three games until she got injured. In only three matches, Alison had 10 kills, 5 aces, and passed a 1.7 on her 3 point passing scale. Alison is one of our two outside players and clearly she has done a good job so far. Despite Alison’s ankle injury, she always shows up and cheers for the team. She keeps our bench filled with high energy and still keeps going to practices even though she wasn’t able to practice with us for a while. Her not being able to play for the last 5 games has affected our season tremendously because her power in her serve and hits make us rack up points very quickly.
Alison’s dedication to get better for the team is admirable. She has been going to physical therapy a lot and it is pretty much in her daily routine now. Alison said that she even works on her ankle at home so she can speed up the recovery process. I asked Alison, ”what are your expectations for yourself when you can get back on the court?” Her answer was, “I’m not gonna start out 100% but I will get there eventually”. In less than a week Alison will be back on the court playing, keeping that same energy she has had on the bench.
