The varsity basketball squads for both genders have each gotten off to a good start. They stand undefeated as of this writing. Last Friday, the boys varsity took on Stockbridge. Stockbridge was a big test for the Titans, as they came into the game with a 4-1 record. Lumen Christi’s leading scorer for the game was freshman Lundon Hampton, leading this experienced senior squad to a blowout win.
Shifting to girls varsity, the girls took on a different team, Lutheran North. While the girls also had a big test ahead of them, they were also undefeated as well with a record of 3-0. There is a very small amount of upperclassmen experience, with Allison O’Dowd and Kathleen Doane, 7 sophomores and 1 freshman. Friday’s game against Lutheran North was a comfortable win, bringing their record to 4-0. Top scorer was Codi Ruge with 14 points.
Summarizing the varsity program, they had an amazing start to the season and a great start to their weekend as well with the pairs of wins from the varsity squads. The boys and girls both showed resilience and fight in their victories. Both of these teams can easily build off last week’s win and hope to keep their hot streaks continuing at the start of this week as well.
