Kairos is a retreat offered to the Lumen students that are in 11th grade. It is a 3 night 4 day retreat that is known to be the best retreat that Lumen offers. Every person that goes to Lumen Christi knows about the famous Kairos retreat. This fall Kairos 37 took place at Camp Desales in Brooklyn, Michigan. It was extra special this year because 80% of the junior class decided to go to Kairos which is the highest number that’s ever gone before! The retreat took place from November 26-29. Clare Dewitt, Fr. Brian, and many others spend countless amounts of time making the retreat perfect for everyone.
After being in Detroit at Ford Field all day for the state championship everyone made their way back to Jackson to quickly pack up their clothes and grab their sleeping bags, because the bus for Kairos was scheduled to leave only a few hours after the game The students and leaders were all very excited to get on the bus and start the retreat. Unfortunately, because of the traffic in Detroit everyone got stuck on the highways so the departure time was moved from 4:30 to 6:00. Even though everyone was really tired from being in Detroit all day, everyone still had a great first night on the retreat.
After the three night retreat all the students and leaders returned to Jackson very tired and sleep deprived, but everyone was very eager and excited about the experiences they had on Kairos 37. One special thing about Kairos is everyone who goes gets a special cross necklace. Many younger kids look at the cross necklace and think of how exciting it must have been to go and they can’t wait to go when they’re older. Many people exclaimed that the retreat was amazing to be a part of and a time they will always remember. Most students that have attended this retreat in the past recommend going on Kairos when the opportunity is given.
