The first football game of the season got off to a good start with the student section setting the tone. They have big plans this year.
Every game, the student section selects a theme for the students to dress up accordingly to. Due to the game falling right before Labor Day Weekend, the student section leaders, Christi Crazies, chose the theme “USA”. The stands featured an abundant amount of red, white, and blue clothes and many patriotic accessories. Some students even brought American flags to wave around! The rows of the student section were filled from top to bottom with Lumen Christi students from grade 7, all the way to grade 12, and they were even accompanied by fans and friends from different schools in the area.
The students brought spirit even outside of their attire. The seniors at Lumen Christi led different chants to send encouragement to the players and to get the fans in the section involved in the game. Music is especially popular in the area, like when the student section sang Party In The U.S.A. by Miley Cyrus, acapella style, during the third quarter! The crowd especially went wild when touchdowns were scored; the upperclassmen would send senior, Donnie Huff, into the air for lifted pushups. The first home game was a great way to start the season, and we can almost assume the games will get crazier after that!
