The Boot Stays Green

Titans defeat Jackson United, 3-2

Lumen Christi Hockey has had an amazing start to the 21-22 season. They have a record of 12-3, only losing 3 games so far. But one of, or maybe the biggest game of the season so far, was the game against their crosstown rivals Jackson United in competition for their trophy, “the boot”.

On January 14th, the Titans faced off against Jackson United. It was a huge game that felt like the whole city of Jackson attended. The Lumen Christi student section had a great time cheering on the team and doggin on Jackson United’s finest goalie, Easton Craig. In the first period the Titans struck first when Junior Nash Hanchett scored the first goal of the game with an assist from senior Caidan Kelly. A little later, freshman Josh DuMont, 25, scored making the score 2-0 in the first period. By the start of the third period things were tied up 2-2 and all fans were on the edge of their seat waiting to see who would score the next goal. Lumen Christi senior captain Kavin Kennedy came in clutch and scored the game winning goal mid-way through the 3rd period, and securing the win for the Titans.

Lumen gained a huge win against their rivals and secured “the boot” that remains green. They play Jackson United again on Friday, February 11th and when they can hopefully clinch another win, this time as the home team. We hope to see all the students and fans at the barn to cheer on the team. GO TITANS !!
